A Christmas Gift
Cam and Kate’s home had a leaky Decramastic tile roof that was well past its best and in need of replacement, particularly with solar being planned for the future.
Following a weather-related insurance event earlier in the year, the decision was made to replace the roof before installing the solar. The existing asbestos tiles were carefully removed in the week leading up to Christmas 2025, with all the new materials delivered and ready to go before the Christmas shutdown.
During Christmas and New Year, everyone pulled together to re-purlin and re-roof the home. It took some seriously long days over what would normally be a quieter time of year.
The goal was simple — get the home weather-tight and give Cam and Kate a roof they could have confidence in for decades to come.

As part of the wider project, we also took the opportunity to improve a few other areas around the home.
The ground-floor feature ply was re-clad, giving it a fresh, durable finish to complement the new roof. We also rebuilt the steps — which had claimed more than their fair share of ankles over the years! — making them safer and more practical.
To finish things off, we added a handrail and a built-in seat, creating a much more welcoming and functional space for future gatherings and functions.
